In the northeast of Poland near the village of Szymany in the Masurian Lake district lies Olsztyn-Mazury Airport. It serves the city of Olsztyn and it's surroundings.
During the cold war it was a backup airfield for the Polish Air Force. Afterwards it was prepared for passenger flights, but with limited success. It wasn't until 2016 that it saw it's first regular scheduled flight. Nowadays it is mostly in use by LCCs.
