How come Copenhagen and Billund are both scale 6?
« on: August 19, 2019, 12:50:09 am »
Copenhagen and Billund are both scale 6 airports in the game. That is incorrect since Copenhagen is much bigger than Billund. Copenhagen is a global hub and should be scale 7 or 8 while Billund is a regional airport and should be scale 3 or 4.

By the way Aalborg is scale 4 which seems overrated for a small regional airport.

The way that I generated the airports are by the data (runway count and length) from http://ourairports.com/data/ and then I adjust some upwards based on the top pax volume

See this gets me all confused because in here for example Sofia airport has the correct length of it's runway which is over 10K feet, being is the length required for A380s to land, the largest planes out there right now.... yet the airport is scale 4. Also PAX volumes for last year assuming that is when you used the data was over 6 mil pax a year....

I'm guessing you scaled down some airports too, otherwise this would not make sense.

It doesn't make sense at all. Maybe an idea for V2 to not use airport scale anymore, instead you can just use runway length (of the longest runway) and annual passenger numbers. That's more reliable than airport scale.

There are some airports that hardly see any traffic, but have incredibly long runways. By the current logic, they should have a very high airport scale only to be scaled down a bit. Other airports only have short runways, but still process huge numbers of passengers. Those should have a low airport scale only to be scaled up a bit. But since this scaling up and down needs to be done manually, it's unreliable.
