Hello fellow Terra Flya members!

I run Hainan Airlines, and would love to discuss strategies with you guys.

I run H Air and Air Africa.

For H Air, I've been trying to get more reputation points by hitting small countries. However, I'm out of bases, and mostly out of routes.

For Air Africa, I was planning to connect lots of Africa, but everything is so poor and insular that I've switched to focusing on larger countries. Nigeria and Brazil both don't allow international connections, so while I've got a largish presence there, it's a dead-end route-wise. If you guys want to connect to those bases, go ahead, but beware that passengers will only pass through to the local country, not other connections.

As for next steps, I think Air Africa might have another base, and maybe I'll put it in Florida?

I expect the new ally in Portugal will want a northern east coast US base. It would complement the almost entirely eastern facing routes from the base.

What kind of strategy are you thinking of? I've been mostly doing bases in 1M+ pop, opened country, preferably with passenger buffs, but mainly ones that don't already have massive players based there.

Hi henderb,

Thanks for creating the alliance! And kudos to everyone in the alliance, since now we are no.5 on the rank!

I opened up a new base in Dubai, hoping to gain some reputation among mid-east countries, and it is working. But I'm kinda of stuck now as for where to expand. China has big market, but now it's like full. I'm not sure whether to open up a new base at Beijing or just increase the traffic on existing routes.

Thanks for the heads up on Brazil, I was thinking opening up a base in Rio De Janeiro, but it seems the connection to other South American countries isn't promising. I might reconsider.

What do you think of U.S. market though? Maybe we can pivot to work on that?

Please let me know whether we should discuss these in DM or other better ways!

PM me if you want. I like reading other people's strategy ideas, so hiding mine seems like a bad plan. Plotting against others isn't all that fun for me.

As far as chasing countries, it's actually calculated per airline, so the alliance wouldn't get points for each of us having a small share of the US. It's a sum of our individual country points.

The main interaction of an alliance is that passengers will treat them like once big airline instead of competing airlines with friction between them.

Links between bases are good. Routes that have connections that continue on are better than ones that double back. Passengers might take a shorter route instead.

To anyone in the alliance: If I've dropped a route from my base to yours, and you'd like to have it instead, start your route and let me know so I can phase mine out. Then I'll have more of the fun part: routes to find a good use for.

Hello guys. Thanks for accepting me.

I have a question, is it better to wait the money to pile up or just borrow as much as you can?

Which airline are you?

I usually loan the maximum amount and choose the maximum length. It's good when you are expanding.

I run Air Hujan, playing around the South East Asian region.

It's a freakin headache handling routes that go up or down in profit as they like.

Thanks for the tips thats what im thinking too.

Welcome!

You may want to increase frequency or use bigger planes on those routes. I typically have at least 1k capacity on a route and that's usually profitable!

@388Crazy has more experience in that, I think. He runs Air Guay.

Oww okay thanks anyways. Still a long way before I can afford to use both.

Trying to avoid the other russian planes because the fuel burn looks scary.
