New Planes??
« on: September 26, 2018, 10:20:10 pm »
I'd like to see some new planes added to diversify fleets of airlines.

Some aircraft i'd like to see:

A350's (all variants)

B787-9 and B787-10 Dreamliners

Boeing 777X (X-8 and X-9)

A321, A320

B747-800

To add onto this, I think it would be pretty cool if we got a system to modify existing planes within reason. A list of mods I can think of are

-Stretched variant or shortened variant

- ER (extended or reduced range) such as 10% range and -15% passenger room or vice versa or anything in between 0 and 10%  I may have fudged the numbers since I have no idea how ERs work but the idea is there. Cost could just go up and this could be rolled into a stretched variant that could go for more range or passengers

- better (or worse) interior quality/winglets/engine chevrons (reduced noise) that would give the plane something like a max of 10% more quality points or however much you choose on a scale of 0-10%
You could get higher prices with this plane and people might want to fly on it. On the topic of this, I think newer, nicer planes like the A320neo and 787 should get a slight quality boost compared to other planes since they are kind of inherently nicer and lets face it, I'd probably pay more for a ticket on either than in an old 777 any day.

-Engine efficiency upgrades

-Airframe life increase/decrease

An airline, or an alliance could request a variant to be commissioned at a large cost. It'd probably be limited to large airlines (or small airlines with deep pockets and large profit margins). The resulting planes would then be made available after a time period, for a proportionally increased or decreased (for decreased stats. Imagine a 250 seater, low range, low quality, and low price A318) price, on top of the initial commission price for the airline and possible the airline's alliance to build exclusively or however would be more balanced.
I think something like this would give every airline a better chance to fill their own niche. I also think it's unrealistic to keep adding planes ad infinitum because there will always be a plane someone wants or a role that current planes can't fill. This would probably have to be balance checked like the rest of the new additions but I think it'd be a good addition that would be fun and useful to have for everyone, late game and early game.
