Reworked the route limit systems
« on: September 03, 2018, 01:31:54 pm »
Hi guys!

I have reworked the existing route limit systems to better suit airlines with bases in countries with less airports.

The main drive is from https://airlineclub.createaforum.com/under-development-wish-list-suggestions/a-change-in-route-categorisation/ which I agreed that airlines setting up bases in smaller countries are disadvantaged due to the lack of domestic airports

I really want to apologize to all players which are affected by this! I understand this change might greatly impact airlines planning. Though change like this hopefully can make the game more fun and fairer in long term!

Enough babbling! So here's the explanation of the change:

- Route cross continents (different countries) but within 1000 km range is now considered "regional" instead of "international"
- Domestic and regional route limits are based on the NUMBER OF HQs/Bases an airline has. And the boost of each type is based on the country it is in:

Country with size 3+ Airport Count Domestic Route Limit Boost per base   Regional Route Limit Boost per base
<= 2112
<= 4310
<= 868
<= 1096
> 10124

For example for a player with HQs in Singapore and a base in China would get:

Singapore (domestic/regional) : 1 / 12
China (domestic/regional) : 12 / 4
==========================
Total (domestic/regional) : 13 / 16

So overall for airlines with more bases in countries with abundance of airports will get more domestic routes and vice versa

I tried to tweak the number so to minimize impact to airlines with a good mix of bases. Please let me know you thoughts and perhaps I can adjust further.

Many thanks for playing again ;)

My airline gained 4 regional routes and lost 33 domestic ones. I can fix this to some extent by building more bases, but seems like a bit of severe adjustment.

Ya sorry about that! I have limited options as if i boost the route count it would give airlines with alot of base too much of a boost

The upside is - you don't really need to set up connection flights in bases if you don't want to, you can just setup a base to gain loyal/awareness and extra bonus of slots. The initial setup cost of level 1 base should be quite low and the upkeep should not be too bad

But again, sorry about the inconvenience  :(!

Thanks. Now once I build more bases, will get domestic routes back to where they were more or less.

I can't speak for the other reputation levels since I can't remember the route limits but it seems that airlines at Top International Airline III take a hit to routes with the old caps being 96/72.

 With the current scaling, it's not possible to reach that level, since (if you disregard the bonus for <=2, 3+ size which I'll refer to as L1) a regional route is worth 1.5 domestic routes to make all the levels even. All countries levels (disregarding L1) add up to 18 "points" or domestic route equivalents (L1 is 19).

With 11 bases and the standard scaling you'd get 198 domestic equivalents at Top International Airline III as opposed to 204 with the old system(96+72*1.5). To meet the old level of 204 you'd need to invest 6 bases in L1 countries (6*19+5*18) which might be a bit unrealistic. That being said, this isn't as much of an issue after the recent change you made but I thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Thanks again for you continued work on the game Patson!

The extra 12 regional routes is nice, but I'm definitely locked into some domestic routes I was going to cancel now :P

You are definitely right! I'm going to double the route limit from HQs to compensate that!

I have a neat idea! If you're gold in a high-value country like (oh, let's just pick a few at random) Japan, US, UK, or France, then you should get lots of extra bonuses.

I'd have to build 5 extra bases now just to get access to more Domestic US routes. This just took the game down a huge notch for me.

I have fixed a calculation problem that t1853 pointed out. So u should get a boost of 12 domestic and 4 regional now :)

which means your new number for domestic should be :
47/26

so u would need at least 21 extra slots of domestic expansion :)

If you build hub in country like US, u have 12 extra domestic limit per base. Which means you should only need 2 more bases before u can start expanding again? :)

I know it's still a bit of a bleh but i hope it's not too bad  :-\

But champions in those countries are already reaping fat champion point bonuses XDDD
