I just fix my routes every once in a while in order to return to profitability. But I may eventually retire as well. It's a good game, it's just one where I've gotten most of the fun out of the content at this point. I'd strongly recommend it to someone who hasn't tried it before.

Yeah, intercontinentals to Aberdeen are not gonna be great.

Newcastle has some demand that could be filled with an efficient rangey plane, but I wouldn't do direct competition and I'd make sure there's a big airport on the other end. (Both goals should be possible)

Intercontinental routes should be a good source of income for most airlines, especially if you find a low or zero competition route and use a light plane to start. Use your intercontinental allowance when you can.

I love my lounges!

But I don't wanna say that too loud or else they'll attract the attention of the nerf wand

I added lounges to try it out.

I haven't really noticed any difference. Business/First passengers were a negligible portion of my revenues, with shaky, unstable demand. They remain so, even on routes where there are lounges on both sides.

The thing is almost everything ends up margin-compressing in the end.

I can think of a few things that could counteract it here or there. Loyalty programs would be one. (They also help expand margins in real life.) But for the most part, everything is margin-compressing.

On a 14000 km route they can be real nice.

Shorter? Forget about it.

I said near-zero cost: as in the critical thing is that it's not quite perceived as zero to the passengers.

There should be some folks with a built-in preference for Newark over Kennedy and vice versa, but not such a strong preference that they'll bounce around the world rather than take a direct out of the neighboring airport.

Yeah I'm also feeling more strongly about the world reset at this point. All I do is remove some capacity on 3-4 routes per day.

If you're not slot-limited then go ahead and use small planes.

Trust me, you'll know when you're slot-limited.

Scheduling definitely has all sorts of potential to make the demand functions more complex and therefore, make real economic profit more possible.

That said, it would be a huge amount of new features and such a big transition that you'd need to redo the game entirely. Like, presumably the point is that supply and demand are different each hour, which would mean that either the game needs to update 168 times faster or the overall pace has to slow way down.

I think 2 and 3 have some obvious benefits in that the best part of the game is emergent gameplay interactions between players. 1 and 4 might not have as much of that.

I also reiterate the concern that a stagnant demand side for the world reduces engagement and fun as it gets more competitive.

I don't expand anymore on my main. I occasionally scale routes back.

I've seen it on occasion. I assume it's a momentary hiccup, nothing more.

It's usually better to have all full flights than not. But if your profit is weak even when the flights are full, then raise prices--and reduce capacity if needed to make sure the flights stay full.

I looked up your airline and it looks like you're based out of the smaller of Brussels' two airports, and as a result it can't accommodate larger planes.

You can play out of that location and use small planes, or build some bases in bigger airports, or reset. Do whatever is most fun for you.
