Airports Scale
The most useful (and easiest for me to fix) is improper airport scale. A general guide line of airport scale:

1. Any airport that has regular landings of jumbo airliner (B777/A380 etc) deserve a scale of 4+
2. Any airport that has regular landings of long range airliner (B787 etc) deserve a scale of 3+
3. Any airport with annual passenger of 10M+ deserve a scale of 5+  etc

At point 2 it says that any airport that has regular landings of a long range airliner deserves a scale of 3+.

However there are a whole lot of airports that see regular visits of a 737/A320. These are medium range aircraft, so they don't apply. Still they require an airport to be scale 3 in the game.

Maybe it should be changed to the following:

1. Any airport that has regular landings of jumbo airliner (B777/A380 etc) deserve a scale 5+
2. Any airport that has regular landings of a long range airliner (B787) deserve a scale 4+
3. Any airport that has regular landings of a medium range airliner (B737/A320) deserve a scale 3+
4. Any airport with annual passenger of 10M+ deserve a scale 6+ etc

I will look for airports with the wrong scale and report them. It'll be a long list.

Bug Reports / Re: Can't create route, button "plan flight" not shown

Fixed it.

I had to shut down and restart my web browser and suddenly the button was there.

Bug Reports / Can't create route, button "plan flight" not shown
« Last post by East on August 20, 2020, 12:56:03 pm »
I have something weird.

I have a hub and I want to connect it to my base with an aircraft that is based at my hub. But when I click my base airport, the button "plan flight" is not shown. It is there for every other airport except for this airport.

It is not an option to fly the route from the other end, it must be from the hub to the base as the aircraft I need for this route is based at my hub.

Please fix this.

Under Development / Wish List / Suggestions / Re: User added images to airports
« Last post by NorthCoast on August 18, 2020, 12:32:05 pm »
What about a system where users can earn points for rating submitted images?

If a picture for a certain airport is uploaded, it's not immediately shown at that airport. Instead, it enters a pool of pictures. Users can enter a page where they're presented with random pictures in this pool with two buttons beneath them. Good or bad.

Images need to be rated by a certain number of users, let's say 100 users. Out of those 100 users, 90 must rate them good in order for the picture to be accepted. If it doesn't make 90 positive ratings, the image is discarded. That should filter out most unwanted pictures. The few remaining can always be deleted by an admin, but it won't be many.

Users can be rewarded for rating pictures, they could get for example money or reputation for it. No large amounts, but each bit helps.

KDTW is also an airport where this happens a lot- hub airport with a lot of traffic near a border between two very friendly countries.

Agreed.

Just on the Candadian side of the border you find Windsor, which basically forms one city together with Detroit beside the fact that there's a national border running between them. Thing is that Windsor does have an airport, in fact it's quite a large airport although it's by far not as big as Detroit. However Windsor airport is totally missing in the game, it's just not there. I can tell you, it's there in real life and it's one of the busier regional airports in Canada. No reason to exclude it while a lot of airports that are way smaller than Windsor are included.

Of course the thing is, if coverage areas would cross borders, the entire city of Detroit would be within to coverage area of Windsor. That would make the airport appear way bigger than it is in real life. Of course, in real life, people from Detroit also fly from Windsor and vice versa, but to a lesser degree.

Any plans to update airport populations?

Agreed, the database needs an update. It's full of flaws such as missing, obsolete and wrong scale airports. I've seen some scale 2 airports that frequently see heavy airliners in real life, even A380s have been there. On the other hand I've seen airports still open in the game that have long been closed in real life.

And I noticed that when looking at the coverage area, towns across the border are not included. This makes sense in some parts of the world with closed borders, but not in parts of the world with open borders. In Europe people frequently drive across the border to fly from a foreign airport.

The country market openness should also be overhauled, it makes no sense. You want to know what I did? I started my airline in a small country with "no foreign airline", but the country is too small and too poor to make profit. So I opened a route to a foreign airport in a larger and richer country and made that my primary base. That's where I operate all my flights from. But still I have coverage in that tiny country where no foreign airline is permitted. I'm the only airline flying to this country, albeit with only one route.

Oh, and a small suggestion for improvement. When picking colors for airline logo and airline color, would it be possible to manually insert a color code instead of having to pick from the color palette? If you got to pick from the palette, you're often just slightly off from what you had in mind. If you can enter the color code, you can be far more precise.

Oh, and before I forget, please the ability to delete routes between hubs. Hubs do not always need to be connected to each other, users can have their reasons for this.

KDTW is also an airport where this happens a lot- hub airport with a lot of traffic near a border between two very friendly countries.

Version 2 Updates / Re: Country relationship system
« Last post by dyeng01 on August 16, 2020, 10:22:59 pm »
In draft stage now, but in V2 I envision that airlines would need to fight for certain status in a country
What about regional fights?
